Selecting The Best Camp Spot
Camping is a great way to get away from your daily routines of work or school, eat, sleep. It offers the perfect opportunity to be surrounded by nature, something that most people cannot or do not do on a day-to-day basis.
How does one select the ideal campsite?
You will need to find a great campground before picking the camp site that will be perfect for you. This is easy thanks to the Internet and the fact that many campgrounds have their own website. You can check out the campsites through the website before actually going there, allowing you to make an educated decision about your choice of campground.
Please remember, campsites can look a tad more glorified than they really are, much like pictures in a menu at restaurants.
Deciding what type of camping you want to do is the first step in choosing your campsite. When a campground offers "primitive camping", it sounds intriguing, but what does that actually mean?
At a primitive campground you will need to bring everything with you that you will need. This includes all shelter, gear, and any additional provisions. Deep in the wilderness is were these primitive campsites are located, you'll be hard pressed to find showers, (running) water, electricity, or toilets.
At the other end of the spectrum, you'll come across campgrounds that provide connections for water, sewage, and electricity - all with a glorious natural backdrop. Some campgrounds have super-upgraded their amenities and will even have a spa!
In between these two extremes however you'll find the bulk of camp grounds. Camping in private parks usually includes all the amenities you could possibly desire. Many campgrounds welcome long-term guests since they offer laundry facilities, arcades and shops. The majority of private parks will also organize activities like bingo games, or have fun and/or competitive activities for children.
The Cost of Campgrounds.
Fees at private parks are generally higher than those of public campgrounds. Modern campgrounds in state parks offer a variety of different setting from rustic tents to resort like cabins. Some of them offer electric, swimming pools, warm showers, toilet facilities, laundry rooms, areas for the children to play in, guided tours, etc.
Most camping facilities within state or national parks are usually very simplistic. You are likely to discover fire pits, picnic tables and primitive toilets. Thankfully, these campgrounds are very easy to afford. They may be absolutely free, or cost a mere few dollars a day.
Campgrounds do fill up early during nice weather.
When the weather is beautiful, most people will pick a campground early and stay there to enjoy the day as opposed to drive the whole day for a far-away campsite. In order to snag the best location, you must arrive early and have a bit of luck.
Would you want a location by the swimming pool and children's playground? That will be a wonderful convenience for the children but at the same time it could be a noisy location with a lot of foot traffic to contend with. The same can be said for locations close to restroom and shower facilities. People will probably be tramping by your tent around the clock.
Do you want a quiet, isolated setting or do you prefer to be in the midst of the hustle-bustle? With the wide variety of options camping offers there are sure to be features or activities that appeal to everyone; you will locate the perfect campground for you and your family.
